Sur-Ron and Talaria both offer lightweight electric off-road motorcycles, but a meaningful comparison must use like-for-like model years and market versions. Specifications can change by market and trim, so confirm the exact unit being quoted.
What to compare
- Power delivery: compare rated and peak motor output separately, and check whether figures describe the motor, controller or wheel output.
- Battery: record nominal voltage, amp-hours and watt-hours; do not compare amp-hours without voltage.
- Weight and geometry: distinguish curb weight from dry weight and compare seat height, wheelbase, suspension travel and wheel sizes.
- Use and legality: off-road models are not automatically road-legal. Registration depends on the exact homologated version and destination.
- Ownership: check battery replacement cost, charger compatibility, service manuals, parts availability and local technical support.
Published specification snapshot
The following figures were checked against manufacturer pages on 21 October 2026. They are a reference snapshot, not a promise that every regional model has the same setup.
| Published field | Sur-Ron Light Bee X (2025 page) | Talaria Sting R MX (official MX page) |
|---|---|---|
| Peak power | 8,000 W | 8,000 W |
| Battery | 60 V / 40 Ah | 60 V / 45 Ah (2,700 Wh) |
| Published weight | 125.6 lb curb weight | 69 kg net weight, battery included |
| Top speed | 46.6 mph | The same official page shows both 75 km/h and 85 km/h in different sections; verify the exact version with the manufacturer before comparing. |
| Published range | 46.6 miles, WMTC road at 24.9 mph | 100 km at 25 km/h |
Interpretation: the published peak-power figures are both 8 kW, but battery capacity, weight definitions and published speed/range methods are not identical. The Talaria source itself presents conflicting top-speed figures, so that field should be flagged for confirmation rather than treated as settled. Range claims measured under different procedures are not directly comparable.

How the two ranges differ
Sur-Ron’s official catalogue includes Light Bee and Ultra Bee model families; the manufacturer publishes model-specific peak power, battery and range figures. Talaria offers its own Sting and other model families with different frame, drivetrain and battery configurations. Do not assume that similarly named models have identical specifications across model years.
Choose for your riding
For tight trails and a lighter feel, compare dimensions and total weight first. For faster, rougher terrain, assess suspension, brakes, wheel size, thermal management and the service support available where you ride. A larger advertised power number alone does not determine the better bike.
Sources and verification
Start with the official Sur-Ron model catalogue and the Talaria manufacturer website where available. Record the exact model page, model year, market and date checked. Where official sources do not publish a comparable figure, mark it as not stated rather than estimating it. Apex Emotos is not implying manufacturer affiliation through this comparison.
Editorial note: specifications and model availability change. Confirm current manufacturer documentation and local vehicle rules before purchase.
